He was named as one of "America's most powerful people" by Swing magazine and as one of "Chicago's Most Influential" by the Chicago Sun-Times. The first two lectures of this class started out great. But then it ran into some problems as we began the class project (launching a new product plan). Razeghi held lab sessions throughout the class, which were useful, but could have been conducted outside lecture time. They basically gave him time not to do any teaching. When I took the class, there was a final exam…after numerous student objections, he decided to remove it. Thank God, because that exam was pretty pointless. It called for students to simply memorize a bunch of facts from the notes and reading. One student will go down in history as having, as Razeghi called it, "the best exam answer in history". Razeghi asked us to name the 5 steps in the Stage Gate process. The student responded, "I do not know the 5 steps in the Stage Gate process nor do I think they are relevant. Deeming that someone who knows the 5 steps in the Stage Gate process will become a successful entrepreneur is like saying that someone who can name every single Bond girl will be a successful secret agent". Brilliant! |
